My friend took me out to do some shopping at the discount stores around town. Here is what I got:

The two canvas prints will be making their appearance in the master bathroom when it is finished. The back porch sign will be hung outside once my DH figures out how he wants to do it.

We decorated the house for fall and the cool weather today makes it feel believable. We don’t have very many decorations but I bought the pieces on clearance last year after the fact. I plan on doing the same thing this year as it is a great way to stock up for usually 75-90% off.

Sidetracked September 29, 2010

So I have been slacking on doing anything around the house. Daily cleaning I can handle, but I am still not done taping the master bathroom. How long does that actually take?!? We have had some visitors, 2 dogs to be exact, so  I have decided to use them as my excuse. The problem is they leave this afternoon, so then I will actually have to start working again. My goal is to have the bathroom completed by October 31st and I plan on reaching it. What do you do to help from losing steam and getting sidetracked? We still have a lot of house to go and need to pick up the pace.

It is currently 55 degrees here, though we will shoot back up into the 100’s later this week.  For now I will enjoy fall vicariously though these lovely pictures:

We are not doing any major renovations right now but  instead focusing on making the space functional. That being said, my sister introduced me to a new website, Houzz, so I have been indulging myself.

Color Palette Generator September 19, 2010

As I am starting to plan out our master bathroom, I came across a perfect resource on Jen’s blog Let’s Make it Ours.  It is called the Color Palette Generator and pulls out the colors from your picture to give you a color palette that would work well. I decided to use it one some of the bathroom items we already have:

dull
#666666
#aa9999
#eeeeee
#bbbbbb
#888877
vibrant
#888888
#cccccc
#ffffff
#ffffff
#aaaa99

The matching towels:

dull
#998877
#aaaa99
#ffffff
#ccbbbb
#776655
vibrant
#bbaa99
#ddcccc
#ffffff
#ffffee
#aa8866

We already primed and painted the first coat of a light blue paint, Summer Dragonfly by Freshaire. We coordinated it with the paint we picked out for our master bedroom, which is a few shades below it at Charted Voyage.

I am hoping this color palette will help guide me when it comes to picking out rugs, art work, accessories, and possibly a few small furniture pieces.

Moving On September 18, 2010

Now that the half bathroom is done, it is time to focus in on a new room. Though the plan was to go to the laundry room, my husband has asked for our master bathroom to be next and I couldn’t agree more. It has been 6 months since we moved in and we have yet to use it, or the beautiful bath tub which looks so inviting. This will be a bigger project, though basically the same small budget. Luckily we already have the paint and some accessories that we got off our wedding registry a year ago.

Bath set we have (trash can, tumbler, soap holder, and tissue box):

More pictures coming soon for inspiration.
